In Poland, hundreds of thousands of babies are born each year, and with each bundle of joy comes a special name. Baby names can be inspired by many things - a place, a loved one, a friend, or even an object.
They say what goes around, comes around, as different trends always seem to reappear eventually, and we’ve seen this in recent years with the return of Y2K and 90’s fashion, vintage home decor, and even the return of flared pants, so it’s not surprising that baby names can also make a comeback.
While botanical and floral names for girls might seem remnants of the past, here at Euroflorist Poland, our research shows that naming babies after flowers has come back into fashion. We analysed* the most popular baby names of the past decade and found that floral baby names - especially floral names for girls - have been becoming more popular in Poland over the past 10 years.
If the trend of the last 10 years continues at the same rate, we could expect the following floral names to bloom the most in 2025:

Our research predicts that Laura is the floral name for girls that will be the most popular in 2025, with a 633% average growth in popularity over the past 10 years.
Laura is a Latin name that comes from the laurel plant, which was used by the ancient Greeks as a symbol of victory. As such, the name Laura is often associated with strength, wisdom, and success. Naming your baby girl Laura in 2025 will surely set her up for a life of success.
The second floral name for girls we can expect to see bloom even more in 2025 is Jaśmina. Jaśmina is a girl’s name of Persian origin and is said to mean “gift from god”, making this name extra special. The name is related to the namesake jasmine flower, which is said to symbolise purity and innocence.
Our research found that Jaśmina has soared in popularity by 198% in the past 10 years - something that could be tied back to the launch of the popular Netflix show High Water in October 2022, with the show’s female lead called Jaśmina.
Other flower names for girls we can expect to see grow even more in popularity in 2025 include Róża, Lilia, and Dalia.
Our research found that Róża has grown in popularity by around 117%.Róża is a girl's name of Latin origins, and the sweet-smelling name simply means ‘róże’, like its namesake flower.
The róże is a timeless and universal symbol of love and passion, which carries a historical resonance dating back to ancient Greek and Roman times through Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty and love.
Lilia has grown around 60% in popularity with new parents over the past 10 years. The name Lilia is of Latin origins and is used in reference to the popular, white namesake flower: lilia.
Lilly is said to mean ‘purity and innocence’, and parents can pick from various spellings, including the English spellings of Lily, Lilly, or Lillie.
Dalia has grown around 22% in popularity, has both Hebrew and Arabic roots, and means “flower”. Dalia is closely related to the nice English name Dahlia.
While our research found that floral baby names for girls are growing in popularity in Poland, floral boy’s names still remain somewhat rarer.
However, there was one flower name for boys that has seen a significant growth in popularity: Florian. According to our analysis, Florian has grown around 59% in popularity in the past decade.
The name Florian is a German form of the name Florentius - with Latin origins meaning “to flower” or “the blooming one”.
This floral baby boy name is an excellent choice for parents looking to remind their sons of the importance of growth no matter what stage in their life.
We also found that the boy’s name Oliwier is also growing in popularity in Poland - by about 11%, so we can expect to see more baby boys with this name in 2025, too. The spelling Oliwier is of Polish origin, however, the English spelling of this name is Oliver. The name is of Latin origin and is related to the olive tree.
Given the growth in popularity for these two names, we can perhaps expect to see other floral names for boys like Hortensjusz or Wawrzyniecbecome more of a trend in years to come.
