Is there anything more beautiful than natural, rustic autumn wreaths and door decorations welcoming guests from the moment they step on our the doorway? Especially if they are made in the same style as autumn bouquets placed on our dinner table and other autumn floral home compositions. Today we will show you how to make a simple diy door wreath made of eucalyptus, leaves, and thistle.
To create this beautiful, rustic autumn wreath you will need straw, green myrtle wire, decorative leaves, autumn plants and a ribbon/string for hanging.
Remember that the smaller the wreath base and the more twigs of plants, the fuller the wreath will be. Therefore, it is good to choose a large enough size for the wreath base.
We chose eucalyptus! To make this autumn garland, we decided to use: two types of eucalyptus twigs (eucalyptus populus and eucalyptus populus with berry) blue thistle and leaves collected in the park, which will add a fanciful, rustic and natural autumn character to the wreath.
You can also use: heather, small apples, rosehips, rowan berries, dried ferns, ivy, limonium (sea lavender), scabiosa, various types of leaves, cones or maple leaves.
Before you start making the wreath, we recommend that you trim the stems of the plants to about 5 cm long. Then they are easier to work with and do not protrude beyond the wreath.
Pick the first twigs and place them on the base of the garland. Wrap the myrtle wire 2-3 times around the stems.
Continue adding new twigs and decorations. Be sure to firmly fix them with wire so that they are all securely tied and safe from falling out.
When the entire wreath is full of flowers and twigs, it's time for the last wire wrapping. Try to lift the first twigs when tying up the last ones, so that the wire is not visible.
If, like us, you plan to hang your wreath on the door, all you have to do is attach a ribbon or string.
